Seven Deadly Sins, The
Antonella Celada 1993 8 1/2 x 10 1/2 x 2 in This work consists of a set of separate pages on which many different kinds of scraps and paper cuts have been assembled to creat seven icon-like images. A color collage for each sin is presented with a latin caption, and packaged in a cardboard box. In SEVEN DEADLY SINS I utilized elements and materials that have been used previously for other purposes. These elements, set in a new context, take up a novel role and a novel meaning. Thus, I force them into a metamorphosis to express my ideas and feelings. Following illuministic perceptions, to each sin or moral quality a corresponding character is associated (see Gaspar Sppurheim, 1776-1832). | ||||
