"A Sex Guide For Girls" is a frank guide for children, although I wonder if any children will ever get a chance to read it. It is inspired by a combination of "Our Bodies, Ourselves," Dr. Ruth's early talk radio show, and a sprinkle of Emily Post's etiquette books. As a child I was always exposed to very frank information about sex. My mother never failed to answer any question I had, even when I asked her what masturbation meant, a word that I randomly took off the "Hair" soundtrack when I was eight. I was moved to make this book in appreciation of not only my mother's frankness but the efforts of her whole generation. It disheartens me to see the new trend to overprotect children, thus leaving them too vulnerable. The dogmatic style of some of the writing is subverted by the drawings and it becomes evident that the "lessons" taught have been transgressed by myself and most of the women I know. This book is covered in latex -- need I say more?
