Susan Johanknecht CD-ROM gold disk, letterpress printed label I am interested in how scientific procedures operate as metaphors for behavior and emotions as well as processes for attaining knowledge. Can you measure pressure, magnetism or tension? "of science & desire" uses the language and imagery of simple science experiments to reveal an underlying sexuality. There is tension between the pedagogical language and uncontrolled results: desire. "of science & desire" (CD ROM) show moving icons which entice the reader to lick, touch, taste, kiss or stroke the touchscreen to view an animated sequence. The text is whispered; actual experiments are subverted as low tech scientific items slowly pulse and throb… | ||||
