When I discovered "Grimm's Fairy Tales" in college, I was astonished that I had gone so long without them. "Prudence and Terence" was inspired by the roach-infested apartment which I called home during college. I strongly suspect that anyone who's ever shared a dwelling with thousands of uninvited guests can relate to it.
