Le Loup/The Wolf from ABC From Amour to Zebra

Noëlle  Gauthier

Collage, silkscreen, one page of twenty-six
12 1/2 x 18 1/3 in
edition of 20

Traditional children's literature has portrayed the wolf as an important symbol of evil. But, as we adults know, evil is not so easily identified, in fact it is often tempting and disguised as desire. While children fear the arrival of the wolf, they also like to pretend that the wolf is lurking nearby and they howl as if they, themselves, were wolves and are excited by his approach.
