text by John Godfrey Saxe

About five years ago I was introduced to book art. I immediately became fascinated with the idea of mixing words and image within an established format. The more I learned, the more I realized I didn't know, and I continue to work at the crafting of books. Books allow me to comine many different techniques, they are intricate in a physical sense, demand fine craftsmanship yet allow me to explore in a very personal way. They are, in a way, telling stories not only about the intended subjects but also about me…books have to be opened to be explored and examined… making them less vulnerable to the viewer.
