House Detective, The

Emily  Martin

Photocopies of etchings on Sakamoto paper
7 3/4 x 4 1/4 x 6 in
edition of 10

An interest in the combination of a narrative and visual approach is always what drives my work. I trained originally as a painter and began to expand the narrative into multiple scenes within a single painting. I kept expanding the use of multiple images in my painting. First, in a series of black and white and intaglio prints, then in three-dimensional house and skyscraper forms and now also in accordion books, folders and traditionally bound books. It seemed to be a natural extension to move from paintings with narratives to books with narratives.
