Collage, paint on Arches black
6 x 9 x 1/2 in
number 1
edition of 1

My artwork takes from by way of collage which has to do with ideas whose names begin with re, re: recycle, research, reorganize, remember, recognize, represent, review . . . , It involves a process of undoing or breaking apart of established entities; finding and using discarded or lost elements; combining unfamiliar parts; and efforts in reorganizing these parts and observing the new associations and meanings that emerge when such disparate elements are brought together. Each element is released from its original purpose and at the same time reflects its origin. These collages are layered with multiple themes and information about such things as time and temperature, motion, emotion, biology, politics, language, history and memory, dreams, converstaions, disease and regeneration, sex and paradox . . .. With so many things happening simultaneously what distinguishes you and me is where and what we focus on, to what we pay attention.
