I became interested in making books, because I found myself more and more intrigued by serial images, because I wished to combine my images with words (and eventually, I hope, with music), and because the personal nature of the book, the privacy and fantasy of holding a tiny complete world in one's hands, has always delighted me. As I have been a sculptor for many years, I always have had an interest and enjoyment in construction and craftsmanship.
