Moroccan Nights

Basia  Irland

1982

My bookworks consist of pages from old books rolled up to form scrolls and then tied into various bundle shapes. These bundled scrolls range in size froma few inches to several feet. Recent works are assemblages of individual bookworks to form nomadic library structures. // The book pages for "Moroccan Nights" are from the outdoor markets (souks) of Agadir and Casablanca. This work also incorporates Berber silk, pages from the ephemeris, a photograph of an archway in Rabat and the covers from an 1890 astronomy book.
