This was one of the first broadsides I ever printed, before I had a shop of my own and during the time that I used the Minnesota Center for Book Arts' facilities. This is the first of many projects printed on Twinrocker paper. This is also the first time I successfully processed and printed a photopolymer plate, and, not coincidentally, the last time I ordered Monotype. Without Centaur type larger than 18 point, I relied on MCBA's Goudy Oldstyle for the titling. The illustration comes from a scan of lace that Debbie and I chose at a fabric store. We were delighted at the illusion of depth created by scanning a three-dimensional object and printing it from a photopolymer plate. Registration for two bleeds with four press runs on MCBA's SP-25 was an interesting experience, more akin to a high-stakes game of bowling than to printing. My heart raced every time I printed the lace, never knowing if it would square up with the other runs. We have featured this broadside for shows at MCBA, Bloomington Art Gallery, and Boliou Art Gallery.
