Remarks on Color by Ludwig Wittgenstein
Gretchen Treuting 1997 laser printed on a variety of materials laser printing accordion binding 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 in, opens to 30 in edition of 2 Having regained a tactile relationship with graphic art, my next step was to introduce my seeminly disparate interests, philosophy/critical theory and graphic arts, to each other. They have been in conversation ever since. What were once two very different tasks, reading a difficult philosophical text and designing an effective piece of graphic art, now frequently merge into one enterprise. Understanding classic and contemporary philosophy does not come easily, but including the "art" part of my brain in the endeavor makes it amuch richer experience for me. Making book art in response to the ideas I find in books feels appropriate. | ||||
