"In a world where language and naming is power, silence is oppression, is violence." --Adrienne Rich 1979 // In this investigation of language both visual and spoken I explore derogatory names and slang expression. I weave women's hats and other articles of clothing from strips of paper letterpress printed with gender-encoded language. These delicate objects are displayed on eccentrically turned wooden stands. This series of work makes feminiest references to craft, the body and a misogynistic culture.
