Radio Silence is the second book in what is becoming an ongoing series of works having to do with journeys. The idea of the map as a metaphor for emotional reality comes into my work again and again. The concept of time also has great resonance in my work; I find myself compelled to find ways in which to express the idea of journeys through time and space within the book form.// In Radio Silence I wanted to go beyond the book as a mere metaphor for journey by presenting the viewer with a chance to take an acutal journey as they read the book. The book is in concertina form, with the text running in one long, continuous line from start to finish. When spread out for display to a full length of seven feet, the viewer has the experience of moving through time and space while reading about the emotional terrain one must sometimes traverse in the journey through life.
