Johannes Jansen is a young poet from the East Berlin underground. In AUSFLOCKEN, Jansen expresses the profound disillusionment of his generation, which had such great expectations for the future following the collapse of partitioned Europe. His story confronts the personal and collective disappointment many have experienced, and describes the anguish in finding himself depending a system which he had earlier fought so stridently against. AUSFLOCKEN recounts the slow disintegration of these dreams in an introspective monologue in which the main character begins to question the meaning of his own personal being.
