Autumn Journal

Amie  Oliver

1994
Edition #1

Primary to my aesthetic is an experimentation with media with an inherent history. The power of symbols, objects and a vocabulary of human form are the language of this dialogue. These interests are synthesized in a body of work that appear to exist as fragments of a culture…symbols, language, the book -- as artifacts. There is an element of decay in the re-use of recycled forms and materials…in the construction of stories pieced together from objects and images discovered on my journeys to ancient places like Scotland, England and France, as well as to the corner store./ Journals and agendas are a big part of my creative process. Hence, the work here seems to catalogue the passing of time and experience, as well as have an inherent mobility.
