Voyages, Dreams, and Amerigo Vespucci
Mary Ellen Long 1995 number 1 edition of 1 The source of this book is a printed copy of fragments from a Vespucci world map that I found years ago in a New York City rare bookstore. This "find" has waited for years to find the right cover and idea to complete its journey into an artists' book format. The leather book cover from a family cache became the catalyst for completion. I also noticed that many of my dreams were journeys into the unknown, whether I was traveling by an elevator that transforms into a high flying gondola or I was swimming through strange and foreboding waters toward a safe haven. The connection was made; Vespucci became the metaphor for my dream journeys as his map traces the explorations to the New World. | ||||
