Burnt Toast

"Burnt Toast" is a light-hearted look at one story from my family's history that has taken on mythic stature. Between the covers made of actual toast is a lithographically reproduced text describing an incident during which my mother fabricated a false history of an event to prove a point, or more specifically, to induce guilt. The text sends up my mother's macabre sense of humor and melodrama. The toast book covers are undeniable factual elements that serve as a foil to my mother's tall tale telling.
