I Will Follow Him
Carol Fastuca 1995 number 1 edition of 1 "I Will Follow Him," is one of a series of books made with computer hard drives, and poses questions about beauty, bodies and modern romance. "I Will Follow Him" is about a woman caught between what popular music teaches her about romance and the realities of sexual independence. It is about the game of romance and who preys upon whom. I use the metaphor of the machine/body as the "beautiful" casing that houses the turmoil of learning about the power of one's independence in a romantic relationship. I use the words "I Will Follow Him" as a chant that denies a woman independence. Together, the worlds of modern romance heard through popular music and oil paintings of birds of prey form questions about relationships and how a woman acts upon her sexual desires as prescribed through popular culture or through nature. | ||||
