Twelve years ago Dikko Faust pied a case of 8-point Century Old Style and spent a tem in Purgatory sorting it out. Since then he and his wife Esther K. Smith have designed, printed and bound artists books, their own special date books and a yearly series of postcards remarkable for their wonderful sense of color and humor, while stretching the limits of what can be done on an almost antique Vandercook proof press. The recipient of numerous awards and grants, Purgatory Pie has many of its books and postcards in museums and libraries in this country and in Europe.
