Vladimir Viderman

V. Mukhina College of Art and Design, Leningrad

Vladimir Viderman was born in 1945 in Sevastopol, near the Black Sea. He graduated from the V. Mukhina College of Art and Design in Leningrad and has been a controversial figure in the Soviet art world. Despite his impressive resume, with over 100 exhibitions and his work in permanent and private collections all over the world, he was refused admittance to the Soviet Artists' Union six times. His style of painting and the content of his work did not conform to the standards set by the Union.
