My life was greatly affected by the absence of positive images of lesbians or female sexuality when I was growing up. "The Well of Loneliness" was one of the first books I ever read which dealt with lesbianism and the message was clearly tragic. Adrienne Rich and Judy Grahn are women of courage and clarity whose writings have greatly influenced generations of lesbians and helped to define a revolution. This book is a tribute to them.
