text by Marilyn Alim Lewis

Humans have always built temples. The ones that I like to build hold words, the sacred externalization of one's thoughts and emotions. The book should honor, as well as protect, those utterings from the soul. It should possess a quality that is commensurate with its content. And I wish that it exist[ed] outside of the constant stream of electrons in which we enjoy immersing ourselves. Will the library 500 years hence contain these palpable, tactile objects? I wish to contribute to that library with not only the ideas that we currently value, but more so those not as highly valued.
