I never cease to be amazed just how the book can be both a private experience and a public art. The book form also offers me an opportunity to explore ideas, images and words in a unique way which is simultaneously similar to and different from the other art work that I do. One perspective of making continues to inform the other.// My recent works include new figurative and narrative imagery carved and painted on various materials, which is not only personal but open to the interpretation of the viewer. This direction really started with "Domestic Science." They also have been heavily influenced by my research for and teaching of two courses at California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland, called "Art as Autobiography" and "Dreams & Daydreams."
