I was reading Anne Carson's "Eros," also Guy Davenport, and ruminating about the mysteries of love when I saw a postcard with A.Y. Owen's photograph of a group of boys looking under the hood of an old Merc. They looked just like the boys I wanted to pay attention to me in high school in the '50s.// This book is made to hold my feelings for those boys and that photograph.// The format/size and color possibilities were established when I found a gray Canson paper that looked good with the xeroxed images. The rest of the decisions about materials and techniques followed from the first ones. I made two books (EROS I & EROS II) in case I liked one better than the other but they both turned out to be satisfactorily alike.
