Important Events in My Life

Ursula  Sternberg

1995
number 1
edition of 1

These books are visual diaries, they record people, places, and events. Thoughts, smells and feelings of the moment are somehow unlocked, even years later, when I look at these drawings./ In my books, I often use poems that are meaningful and visually appealing to me at the time. I paint on and around them, so the works become part of the picture and the picture, part of the words. Sometimes I invent a story for the painted page. In this way, both words and images are closely connected, without either being an illustation of the other./ My books vary in size, and are free standing. By turning a page, the viewer can display a different painting every day.
