Red Herring
January 19, 2007 - March 31, 2007
Featured Artist Project organized by Sandra Murchison, Associate Professor of Art, Millsaps College, and Artist
This project will present 20 new prints by 20 printmakers who are all faculty members at various colleges/universities throughout the United States as well as two artists from Africa. These artists were selected based on their reputation both as printmakers and instructors. These 20 prints will be collected into a handmade portfolio. The prints will explore the theme of red herrings. An edition of 25 portfolios will hold the loose prints along with a colophon and a book with a brief biography of each artist and a full description of the theme and details about the portfolio. The exhibition is organized in conjunction with the 2007 Southern Graphics Council conference and will coincide with the College Art Association Conference in New York City in February 2007.Featuring prints by Janet Ballweg (Bowling Green State University), Laura Berman (Kansas City Art Institute), Lisa Bigalke (Art Educator in Wisconsin), Margaret Craig (Southwest School of Art & Craft), April Flanders (Appalachian State University), Ron Fundingsland (University of Nebraska), Karla Hackenmiller (Ohio University), Anita Jung (University of Iowa), Karen Kunc (University of Nebraska), Hilary Lorenz (Long Island University), Beauvais Lyons (University of Tennessee), Sandra Murchison (Millsaps College), Fred Mutebi (Art Educator in Uganda, Africa), Robino Ntila (Art Educator in Tanzania, Africa), Johanna Paas (Central Michigan University), Mary Jane Parker (New Orleans Center for Creative Arts), Benjamin D.
